About the place

The menu has sour soups (ciorbă), cabbage rolls (sarmale), grilled mici, homemade sausages, meat platters, salads and papanași doughnuts, in large portions. Many guests are also offered a small glass of plum brandy or sour-cherry liqueur on the house.

The restaurant is a 5–7 minute walk from Piața Unirii, on a side street, so it is quieter than the places on the square. In summer you sit on the terrace. It holds 4.6 on Google from 6,843 reviews and 4.4 on TripAdvisor from 843.

Good to know

  • In the evening and at weekends, call ahead for a table: there is often a wait at peak times.
  • Leave room for papanași, the dessert praised in most reviews.
  • The Central Park is a few minutes away, good for a walk after the meal.
